Lookout Mountain Incline Railway - Chattanooga (2023)

The Incline Railway is a 1 mile ride up Lookout Mountain at the border of Tennessee and Georgia. It claims to be the world's steepest inclines, but in reality it's one of the worlds steepest inclines at a 72.7% angle. It truly feels insanely steep when you're on it!

The Railway first opened in 1895. From the top, you can see quite far including (supposedly) Virginia and even the Carolinas, especially with the help of binoculars.

There is no air conditioning on the Incline and, amazingly, with the April sun, it was well over 100+ degrees Fahrenheit inside the train.

This is a neat experience while in Chattanooga and worth a stop if you're in the area!

This motel has absolutely nothing to do with the Incline -- I saw it on my drive into Chattanooga and thought the sign was amazing. I can only speculate if the motel is quite as amazing.
